Award, Certificate or Diploma? What's the difference?

This is a question we get asked a lot. If this is all new, then it can be confusing. So, lets try and put this in simple terms!

The Level 3 award only covers the theory based units whereas the Level 3 certificate and the Level 3 diploma cover both theory and practical units. 

The Level 3 certificate covers 11 units and will fully qualify you as a Level 3 TA.

The Level 3 Diploma covers 14 units in total and is almost identical to the certificate, apart from the last 3 units that cover working with SEN. The Diploma qualifies you as both a Level 3 TA and also to work 1-1 with SEN. If the SEN units are of no advantage to you, then you should take the certificate.

To enhance employment opportunities, please consider the certificate or diploma if placement is an option for you. The experience gained in a classroom can be invaluable.

If placement is not currently an option for you, then you can always do the Award and top it up to become the Certificate or Diploma in the future as and when placement becomes a realistic possibility.
