Teaching Assistant Placement Requirements

Students looking to register onto one of our teaching assistant courses that require placement, should be working or volunteering in a classroom setting, assisting the teacher to plan and deliver the national curriculum.
Placement must be arranged prior to enrolment.
We recommend a minimum of 8 hours per week in reception year or above. However, the more you can do the quicker you are likely to complete. Feel free to split your hours across the week if that is easier for you.
If you are not currently working in a classroom setting, it is worth speaking to schools locally and offering to volunteer in exchange for their assistance in gaining your qualification. Schools can be very receptive to volunteers and by doing so, this often leads to employment at the end of your course.

Focus Awards Level 3 Diploma - Specialist Support for Teaching & Learning in Schools (RQF)
Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with finding placements for learners. This must be done independently.
Note: A nursery, pre-school or after-school club are not suitable placement settings. You must be in reception or above.
